The Golden State Warriors are a professional basketball team from the United States based in San Francisco, California. They compete in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and play their home games at the Chase Center, located in the San Francisco neighborhood of Mission Bay.

The franchise was founded in Philadelphia in 1946 as the Philadelphia Warriors. In the early 1960s the team moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where it adopted the name by which it is known today. Golden State is the nickname by which California is known for its golden hills and the Gold Rush of 1849.

Throughout their history, the Warriors have won a total of six NBA championships (the third most successful team in the league tied with the Chicago Bulls and behind only the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers), eleven conference titles and seven division titles. They also own the best all-time record in a regular season (73-9 in 2015-16) and Playoffs (16-1 in 2017).
According to Forbes magazine, the Golden State Warriors are the sixth most valuable sports club in the world and second in the NBA with an estimated value of $4700 million.
